The Washington Canoe Club Needs Your Help Now!

The Washington Canoe Club has the opportunity to acquire the land underlying its historic clubhouse.  Purchasing the land would allow WCC to make secure, much needed investments in protecting and restoring the building.  In addition, the club would be free from future fluctuations in lease payments, which make it difficult to plan for and sustainably finance its paddling programs.

WCC is cherished for many reasons.  It is a unique historic property and picturesque icon on the Potomac River.  For some, it is a center of athletic excellence and training ground to develop Olympic athletes.  For others, it is a gateway to the spectacular scenery and history of the C&O Canal National Historic Park.

WCC has long prided itself on providing open access to all who are interested in it, for these and many other reasons.  At this time, we ask all who have shared in enjoyment of the club to make a contribution to help secure its future and provide this opportunity for future generations.

The club has a minimum target of $2 million to raise by March of 2010.  Any contributions in excess of the minimum target will be used to support the restoration and long term stewardship of the clubhouse.

How to Donate

There are three easy ways to donate.

  1. Give online through Google Pay below.
  2. Send your check to Friends of WCC.
  3. Contact one of WCC's board members (listed on the Contact Us page) to discuss bequests, challenge or major gifts.
